As of this morning the video of the November 10th meeting was not posted. When it is I will post the Link.
Old business: Bill 2010-106 authorizing the County Executive to transfer funds from the Gaming Fund to the stabilization Fund.
This is something I have been fighting for. From my perspective if these money were left in the Gaming fund they would have been spent on "NEW PROJECTS". This was proposed by Dean Browning. The Stabilization Fund is like their "LOCK BOX". I would have preferred that this money be put against the budget increase but, this is the next best thing. $800,000.00 from the 2010 gaming fund and $200,000.00 from 2011. This money can still be spent, if the Commissioners voted to do so. So it will have to be watched carefully. All except Andy Roman voted yes. I don't know why Andy voted against this. He may still be pushing for the County Health Department. Remember this issue as well as a regional crime center is still on some of the Commissioners agenda.
Bill 2010-107 Approving an increase to the contract with Vitetta Group of approx. $80,000.00 for additional work on their contract. I spoke against this increase, since they had a contract for these services and may have not done their homework when smiting their proposal. The vote was 5-4 for the passing of this amendment.
Bill 2010-108 Approving a Professional agreement with Frank Dattilio to provide psychological examinations of clients of the Public defenders Office. His rate has increased to $250.00 per hour. When I asked what percent does this increase represent, no one knew the answer. I will follow up on this.
Bill 2010-111 Approving a pass-through grant from the Feds for a Family Reunification Reentry Initiative. This sounds like a good program. The amount of money coming from the Feds is $247,000.00 and will require no expense from the County for administration. Jill asked, that when the Federal money was gone what would happen to this program, everyone indicated the program would end. Many new programs are started with Federal money and then continued with Local money. This is something we all have to watch for. Good job Jill.
